Recently, a new apprenticeship program for animal caretakers with a focus on laboratory animal science has been established at the Core Facility.
Among other things, the training teaches expertise in the following areas:
- Breeding management
- Health control
- Implementation of hygiene concepts (cleaning/disinfection/sterilization)
- Assisting with veterinary inspections
- Housing systems for laboratory animals
- Design and implementation of 3R concepts
- Laboratory animal ethics
